Live and write in this 12th century town in the heart of Umbria with a community of playwrights from around the world. This unique workshop will tailor the development process to each writer’s specific needs. Through individual and group writing exercises and one-on-one creativity sessions, writers will explore, shape and refine their drafts. Our writing and staging investigations will hone and maximize both text and image to strengthen structure, language, the creation of theatrical space, and character. Artists developing solo shows are also welcome. Alternating sessions with a director and a dramaturg invites in-depth and practical investigation of your play, making it succeed both on the page and on the stage. Accentuate your realism or set yourself free from it – every risk is safe and anything is possible.
Note: We suggest that, at minimum, you bring an early draft of a play that you want to work on, take apart, deconstruct and reassemble. In order to give full and best attention to all participants, we ask that your play have no more than 8 characters.
